Kingston Re-Shoot - Behind The Scenes

Kingston Reshoot:

2nd March 2015

 On Monday, we did some more performance shots in front of the graffiti wall to use through the whole video for different locations for the performance shots.

 We had a problem with the lighting because it was a lot sunnier on Monday than when we filmed before and we thought it wouldn't match the rest of our video but it was cloudy for a while so we filmed during that time. We also had a problem with the wind, and Matilda's hair kept blowing into her face, but we decided to put her hair in a side braid to take her fringe off her face. After that we went to Canbury Park to re-film John and Matilda's part and we realised that Matilda wasn't wearing the same jacket as last time so we had to film the whole section again. A benefit of this was that the lighting is consistent through that section whereas if we had alternated between the old footage and the new footage then the lighting would have been different in every shot.

Mood Board

This is our mood board, which we've tried to focus on a fun and girly vibe. There are lots of images of balloons, lips, settings and outfits; things that connote youth and femininity. But there are also pictures that contradict with this theme.

 

These pictures show the general star image that our main performer (Matilda) with items like knitted jumpers, lace skirts, dresses and signature red lipstick.

Locations

We wrote down all the locations that we could consider using while filming.

Location One: 

We are planning to use this small cafe called 'Cafe Green' down New Malden High Street for this first narrative with Toby. We think this will be good because it is a quiet place and the interior design is very girly and romantic.

 Location Two:

We would like to film the rapping parts in London preferably somewhere urban and has street arts. We were thinking of using places around Aldgate East such as Hanbury Street. The artwork will make the footage colourful and happy which is what we want for pop. The retro, urban look of the street helps emphasise the sass needed from the artist.

 Location Three:

We wanted to switch between different places with different backgrounds and we think this will be a good area to shoot with the unique graffiti. This place will likely to be quiet which helps setting up and filming.

Location Four:

We thought this could be another place that will be good for filming because of its unique graffiti shutters. However, we need to be there very early in order to have the shutters on video.

Location Five: 

Kingston Bridge will be a good area where we can film the main artist walking around with friends and chilling and it can look very natural as we are fimilar with the place.

 Location Six:

Canbury Gardens is the location that we are going to use for the second narrative with John. This location is peaceful therefore it suits our narrative.
